Sponsor a child’s education

A country’s development and the economy is directly related to the quality of its education system and the literacy rate. Unfortunately, lack of proper educational system has led to a very poor literacy rate of Haiti. Due to this scenario, the country couldn’t properly catch up with the pace the world is changing with the invention of various disruptive technologies. In order to develop, a solid educational background is needed and  achievements of a high literacy rate is important.

Haiti Education Facts

. Here’s a look at some of the facts that can present a brief idea of what education looks like in Haiti:

➢ The enrollment rate falls further down, when it comes to Secondary schooling. It is approximately 20%, who enroll for the secondary school.

➢ There are approximately a total of 13 universities in the country.

➢ About 85% of the students who’re graduated from a college prefer to leave the country and live abroad for a better life, due to lack of opportunities even for the highly educated.

The situation of schools in Haiti:

It’s already a known fact that most of the citizens are poor, which makes them unable to afford education. About 90% of the Haitian schools are privately operated whereas the public schools lack in proper infrastructure and faculty. Private schools usually require a tuition fee, which most parents can’t afford to provide education for their children. There are a few people that come forward to sponsor a child, but that’s not the case for many. Increase in the number of public schools may help in a great way, however this is still a hope and dream.

Importance of Education:

For a third world country like Haiti, education is the most important thing that can contribute to the growth and development. The literacy rate has to become better for their technical advancement. Children must be provided proper and quality education for the sake of their future. Every child should be educated appropriately, so that they can be well prepared for better employment opportunities. Not only the children, many of the Haitian adults didn’t get a chance to get education. Many of them are unable to read and write,  due to this reason, therefore even critically incapable of choosing the right leaders to lead, since most political candidates expressed themselves in French which is considered the language of the educated in Haiti.

What are we striving for?

We’re aiming to provide education for both children and adults in Haiti. We’re looking to develop the educational system by offering proper education to the Haitians that are looking for a better educational option. Invest in a child is a program that encourages the more fortunate to pay schooling for a child however capable. Invest in that child ‘s future is investing in Haiti’s future.
